Job Description
Main Line Health is a renowned healthcare organization dedicated to providing exceptional medical services and compassionate care across the community. Known for its commitment to superior service and innovation in healthcare, Main Line Health operates several hospitals and outpatient facilities, ensuring comprehensive care to patients and families. One of its key facilities, Riddle Hospital, offers a dynamic and supportive work environment where employees are valued as integral members of the healthcare team. The organization emphasizes continuous learning, professional growth, and a collaborative culture that fosters respect and diversity among its staff. With a strong focus on patient-centered care, Main Line Health strives to deliver quality health services while promoting wellness and a higher quality of life for all individuals it serves.
The role of Cook at Riddle Hospital is an essential position within the hospital's food service department. This role is designed for motivated and experienced cooks who bring culinary skills as well as leadership qualities to the team. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals tailored to meet the nutritional and dietary needs of patients, visitors, and hospital staff. This includes reviewing menus and production sheets to develop efficient cooking schedules that ensure meals are ready at specified times. Attention to detail is crucial as standardized recipes must be followed to maintain consistent quality and adherence to health and safety standards. The Cook position offers varied shift times ranging from early morning to evening, providing flexibility while supporting a better work-life balance compared to many food service roles, with every other weekend and holiday off.
Main Line Health recognizes the importance of professional development and offers opportunities for further education through tuition reimbursement programs that can support up to $6,000 per year. Employees in this role can take advantage of numerous employee discounts on activities, services, and vendors, along with free parking, enhancing overall job satisfaction. Eligible for up to 120 hours of paid time off annually, this position supports employee wellbeing and work-life integration. The Cook role demands a minimum of three years’ experience in culinary arts within a food service setting as well as a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree in culinary arts preferred. ServSafe Certification or an equivalent food safety credential is also preferred, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to food safety and quality standards.
Joining the Main Line Health family means becoming part of a diverse team united by the mission to provide superior service and patient care. This role presents a meaningful opportunity to impact patient experiences positively while advancing your culinary career in a stable and rewarding environment.
