Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • at least one year of relevant cooking experience required
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • prior experience cooking or kitchen experience in a cafeteria or large volume production facility a plus
  • experience with safety procedures typical in a cafeteria or food service environment

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of food safety and food handling procedures

Job Duties

  • refer to daily prep list at the start of each shift for assigned duties and complete opening and closing checklists daily
  • set up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • safely use a variety of kitchen utensils including knives and other items
  • be comfortable using and operating a variety of equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc
  • know and comply consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, recipes, policies, and procedures
  • handle, store, label, and rotate all products properly and in accordance with applicable state laws
  • follow assigned instructions to properly stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth serving of food
  • have a clear understanding of menu items
  • understand and be responsible for prepping ingredients
  • have a strong grasp on various cooking methods, food items, equipment, etc
  • be able to multitask in a high-volume kitchen
  • be able to handle hot and cold work conditions during food preparation
  • perform physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
  • be able to stand and be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
