In collaboration with the Center Director, the role supports the development of monthly menus that align with the dietary needs and preferences of the center's members. Additionally, this position coordinates duties and schedules for meal preparers, ensuring efficient and timely meal service.

Managing supplies is a critical aspect of this role. Responsibilities include checking supplies, maintaining and rotating inventory, and preparing supply lists for purchases to guarantee that all food and kitchen necessities are available to support meal planning and service. The role also involves routine cleaning of the kitchen equipment, daily washing of dishes, cooking utensils, and general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping floors, and emptying trash. Maintaining sanitary practices following the Food Service Permit standards in accordance with Memphis and Shelby County Health Department regulations is essential for ensuring food safety and hygiene.

The position also requires vigilance in identifying maintenance and repair needs within the kitchen area and promptly notifying supervisors so that issues can be addressed without disrupting services. This role is integral to the smooth operation and reputation of the Senior Citizens Center's meal service program, helping to create a positive dining experience that supports the health and satisfaction of the center's patrons. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food preparation or related field
  • Ability to work under general supervision
