Job Requirements

  • no prior travel required
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights
  • adherence to hospital policies and procedures
  • must comply with food safety regulations and HACCP standards

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in food preparation or cooking is a plus but not required
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control
  • understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • good communication and teamwork skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • willingness to learn and mentor others

Job Duties

  • prepare, season, and cook food for patients, staff, visitors, and special functions
  • review menus to determine types and quantities of food
  • prepare quality food in sufficient quantities to cover all service requirements
  • coordinate timing of preparation to meet service schedules
  • adhere to standardization of recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control cost
  • maintain care and sanitation of equipment in production area
  • follow sanitation and safety standards such as HACCP
  • participate in the process of ordering supplies
  • provide directions to personnel assisting in food preparation
  • orient and mentor new staff members
