The Cook position at Bancroft is a full-time, non-exempt role within the Education Department. This role is vital to the operation of the food services division, responsible for assisting the Lead Cook with the preparation and serving of meals to students and persons served. The position offers an hourly rate ranging from $19.53 to $24.00, reflecting the value Bancroft places on skilled food service professionals. In this role, the Cook will prepare a variety of food items, including salads, sandwiches, soups, starches, and meats. Duties include washing, peeling, and slicing fruits and vegetables and seasoning and carving meats appropriately. The Cook also assists with the arrangement and replenishment of serving lines to ensure availability of food throughout meal times. Additionally, the position requires careful review of production schedules to prepare the correct quantities and varieties of food, as well as to assemble the necessary supplies and equipment.
The Cook must operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain a sanitary work environment by cleaning counters, equipment, and tools regularly. Proper food storage, including refrigeration and leftover handling, is a key responsibility to ensure compliance with health standards. Beyond daily meal preparation, the Cook may be involved in food service for special events such as Board meetings, conferences, and other catered functions.

- Minimum one year of prior experience in food preparation and serving
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
