The Cook will be accountable to the Restaurant General Manager and the Training General Manager, playing a vital role in the preparation and presentation of meals in accordance with established food production procedures. This role demands the ability to oversee food preparation processes, ensuring that quality, temperature, and appearance are preserved at all times. The candidate will be responsible for proper storage of food, maintenance of a clean and safe working environment, and effective management of kitchen supplies to minimize waste and loss. They will also be required to maintain daily production records and ensure all equipment is functioning properly by reporting any necessary repairs to the supervisor. The role requires a strong understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation laws, and the ability to follow precise food handling and preparation techniques to meet internal standards and regulatory requirements.

The position includes responsibilities such as setting the steam table, apportioning food, completing temperature checks before service, and participating in mandatory training and safety programs. The Cook will also contribute to promoting positive public relations by providing friendly and professional interaction with guests.

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-3 years related work experience
- Prior experience in food service positions
- Valid ServSafe or other approved Food Handler Certification
- Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Required to know and follow safe work practices and company policies
- Manual dexterity
- Effective interpersonal communication skills

Job Duties
- Prepares or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems
- Determines amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems
- Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation
- Sets steam table
- Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards
- Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques
- Stores food properly and safely, marking date and item
- Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor
- Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved
- Apportions food for serving
- Maintains daily production records
- Keeps work area neat and clean at all times including dishwashing
- Cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation
- Completes food temperature checks before service
- Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
