Job Description

This job opportunity is with a well-established restaurant seeking a dedicated Cook to join their culinary team. The restaurant environment is dynamic and fast-paced, catering to a variety of customers while maintaining high standards for food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The establishment prides itself on delivering exceptional dining experiences and relies heavily on the kitchen staff to prepare and cook menu items according to strict operational and quality standards.

The Cook position reports directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD) and is classified as a nonexempt role, indicating hourly employment. The core responsibility of this role involves cooking, preparing, and packaging food products while ensuring adherence to the restaurant's policies and procedures. This role requires physical stamina due to continuous standing and movements such as bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting, along with exposure to heat and variable weather conditions.

The Cook will operate various food preparation stations, including the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and other designated areas. This requires versatility and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently during shifts that often include irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays. Attention to food safety and sanitation is crucial; the position includes performing regular cleaning duties such as waste disposal, mopping, washing dishes, and sanitizing food prep areas and equipment.

Additional responsibilities include reporting customer or employee complaints to the MOD, moving and stocking food items weighing up to 50 pounds, and undertaking any other tasks as assigned by supervisory staff. Effective communication skills, basic math and reading abilities, and the capacity to follow detailed instructions are essential for success in this role.

Job Duties

  • Cook, prepare, and package food product pursuant to operational and quality standards
  • operate dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food prep stations as assigned
  • comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • perform regular cleaning and sanitation duties including trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease pursuant to operational standards
  • maintain regular attendance
  • report customer or employee complaints or issues to MOD
  • move and stock food product weighing up to 50 pounds
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned or required
