About: This position is for a Cook at a dynamic restaurant environment where quality food preparation and exceptional service are top priorities. The establishment operates in the food service industry, focusing on delivering consistent, high-quality meals to its customers. As a nonexempt position, the Cook plays a vital role in day-to-day kitchen operations, working closely under the guidance of the Manager on Duty (MOD). The restaurant prides itself on maintaining operational and sanitary standards that meet industry and company requirements. This role involves working irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating the flexibility and commitment required in the hospitality sector.
The role of Cook is central to the kitchen team, responsible for cooking, preparing, and packaging food products according to defined operational and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of restaurant operations and retail food preparation, along with basic math and reading skills to efficiently execute recipes and follow operational procedures. Effective communication skills are essential, enabling the Cook to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors while addressing any issues or customer complaints promptly. Physical stamina is important as the role requires continuous standing, bending, reaching, and lifting, as well as the ability to handle heat from cooking equipment and cold from storage areas.
Key responsibilities include operating various kitchen stations such as the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food prep stations. The Cook will also be accountable for cleaning and sanitation duties, ensuring cleanliness and safety in all food preparation areas and equipment. Regular attendance and reliability are crucial for maintaining smooth kitchen operations. Additional duties may include moving and stocking food products weighing up to 50 pounds and reporting any customer or employee concerns to the MOD. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service and kitchen management within a fast-paced and supportive work environment.
