The role of Food Preparation Specialist within OhioHealth’s Nutrition Services department is central to delivering high-quality food services to patients and retail customers. This full-time position, scheduled for 40 hours per week with variable shifts, calls for a dedicated professional responsible for preparing hot and cold foods adhering closely to standardized recipes and production sheets. The position demands meticulous attention to food safety practices and sanitation standards consistent with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols. The role ensures that equipment and work areas are maintained clean and orderly, fostering a safe and attractive environment.

In this position, the Food Preparation Specialist uses a variety of kitchen equipment including convection ovens, grills, braisers, and fryers to produce large volumes of food efficiently. Creativity in food garnishing is encouraged to enhance presentation. This specialist operates with great attention to detail when documenting food safety logs, managing inventory, and communicating promptly with supervisors regarding any equipment malfunctions or preparation issues. The role also includes training and relieving other positions as assigned, emphasizing teamwork and operational flexibility.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, complemented by over two years of relevant food preparation experience. Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling is essential, as is the ability to maintain hygiene standards and comply with organizational policies in a healthcare setting.
