The position available is for a Cook who plays a critical role in the restaurant’s daily operations. This role is nonexempt and involves working under the direct supervision of the Manager on Duty (MOD). The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare, cook, and package food items in alignment with the company’s operational and quality standards. The individual in this position will be tasked with operating various kitchen stations, including dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food prep stations, carrying out cleaning and sanitation duties, and ensuring that all food preparation activities comply with the established policies and procedures.

Beyond essential cooking tasks, the Cook is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment by performing duties such as trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease. Regular attendance and punctuality are vital to support the restaurant’s operational flow, especially given the irregular hours involved, such as nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional duties include reporting customer or employee complaints or issues to the MOD, handling the physical movement and stocking of food products weighing up to 50 pounds, and performing other job-related tasks as assigned or required. The work environment requires continuous physical activity, including standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting within a restaurant setting that frequently exposes the employee to heat, hot liquid shortening, freezer temperatures, and occasionally varying weather conditions.

This role is suited for candidates who possess general restaurant or retail knowledge, basic math and reading skills, effective verbal and written communication abilities, and strong multi-tasking skills. The ability to follow directions carefully while maintaining quality and safety standards is essential. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or similar environment preferred
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, move, stoop, stretch, and lift continuously in a restaurant environment
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, hot liquid shortening, freezer temperatures, and variable weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
