Job Description

Wayne Metro is a distinguished community-based organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for children and families in the region. Known for its dedication to comprehensive support services including education, health, and nutrition, Wayne Metro plays a pivotal role in promoting early childhood development and ensuring the well-being of young learners. As a trusted provider of Head Start programs, Wayne Metro focuses on delivering nutritious meals, educational support, and family engagement to help children succeed in school and life. The organization prides itself on fostering a supportive work environment that values professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning, making it a great place for individuals passionate about child development and community service.

The role of Food Service Operator at Wayne Metro is integral to the success of the Head Start program, with the primary responsibility of preparing and distributing nutritious meals to children. This role ensures that all students receive meals that are safe, appealing, and meet their dietary needs, including those with allergies or specific food preferences. The Food Service Operator works closely with classroom staff and food technicians to maintain a well-stocked, clean kitchen environment and contribute to menu planning. This position demands a professional attitude, strict adherence to food safety guidelines, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Employees in this role are frequently exposed to kitchen equipment and environmental factors such as heat and noise, making the job physically demanding as well as requiring meticulous attention to detail. Timely food distribution and maintaining sanitation standards are crucial duties, alongside supporting the nutritional and social development of children during family style meal service. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours tailored to program needs. This full-time opportunity offers a meaningful career path for individuals who have a passion for nutrition, childcare, and community health programs, coupled with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to uphold the high standards of Wayne Metro policies and procedures.
