Job Description

Eastcastle Place is a renowned Senior Living and Health Services Facility with a rich history of over 140 years providing compassionate care and services to seniors. Located in a vibrant community known for its dedication to the wellbeing of its residents, Eastcastle Place offers a continuum of care aimed at promoting active, fulfilling lifestyles while respecting the dignity and independence of every individual. Their in-house restaurant, The Gillman, serves a large number of independent living residents and extends culinary services through satellite kitchens across Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-Term Care, and Skilled Rehab. The role of Cook at Eastcastle Place is a full-time, non-exempt position offering 40 hours per week with a schedule spanning from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm and includes a required rotation every other weekend. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $19.00 and includes a sign-on bonus of $1,000. This role is crucial for providing nutritious, high-quality meals to senior residents, adhering strictly to dietary guidelines and individual preferences. The Cook will be part of a dynamic culinary team comprising Cooks, Sous Chefs, Executive Chef, and Dishwashers, working collectively to create a seamless dining experience. Responsibilities include meal preparation according to standardized recipes, maintaining kitchen and dining area cleanliness and safety, planning food production schedules to ensure meal quality and timely service, and assisting team members to manage meal orders effectively.

Candidates will bring a minimum of two years of culinary experience in a legitimate culinary environment, showcasing a passion for food excellence, the ability to follow detailed recipes, and strong communication skills. The Cook will need to demonstrate multitasking capabilities, the ability to work under pressure, and a hospitality-minded attitude that emphasizes collaboration and respect. Job Duties

  • Assist in meal preparation including setting up lunch and dinner while following recipes accurately
  • Adhere to dietary guidelines and ensure meals meet resident preferences and nutritional needs
  • Maintain cleanliness organization and safety in kitchen and dining areas
  • Work as part of a team to ensure timely and high-quality meal service
  • Model professionalism collaboration and hospitality in every interaction
  • Prepare all soups stocks sauces boils braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes
  • Prepare and serve all sauteed fried grilled steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to preserve excellence quality temperature and appearance of food
  • Determine amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and obtain from storage areas in adequate time for meal production
  • Assist other cooks to ensure meal service is completed in a timely manner
  • Efficiently resolve problems with resident orders
  • Complete all necessary logs and quality assurance checklists and ensure proper food storage with date and labels when not in use
