Job Description

Eastcastle Place is a renowned senior living and health services facility located in a vibrant community setting. With over 140 years of dedicated service to seniors, Eastcastle Place offers a continuum of care that nurtures active and fulfilling lifestyles, honoring the dignity and independence of each resident. Eastcastle Place features an on-site restaurant called The Gillman and manages multiple satellite kitchens that serve diverse dining needs ranging from independent living to assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and skilled rehabilitation. This dynamic setting requires a skilled culinary team to meet high standards of food quality, nutrition, and resident satisfaction.

The role of Cook at Eastcastle Place is a full-time, non-exempt position offering $19.00 per hour plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The position involves working 40 hours per week in shifts from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, including every other weekend rotation. This pivotal role is crucial in delivering exceptional culinary experiences by preparing nutritious, delicious, and visually appealing meals tailored to meet individual dietary needs. The Cook will contribute to a multi-faceted culinary team that includes sous chefs, executive chefs, and dietary aides, supporting efficient meal service across different dining venues within the facility.

Daily responsibilities include preparing a variety of dishes like soups, stocks, sauces, and entrees using standardized recipes while ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines and resident preferences. Cooks are also tasked with meticulous kitchen management, including sanitation, safety, organization, and inventory control to maintain a clean and orderly environment. Working collaboratively within the Hospitality Department under the direct supervision of the Executive Chef and Director of Hospitality, the Cook must uphold Eastcastle Place's core values of Excellence, Collaboration, and Passion.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years of culinary experience in a genuine culinary environment, strong communication skills, and a passion for culinary excellence. The role requires the ability to follow precise recipes, manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and work harmoniously within a team. Job Duties

  • Assist in meal preparation including setting up lunch and dinner while following recipes accurately
  • Adhere to dietary guidelines and ensure that meals meet resident preferences and nutritional needs
  • Maintain cleanliness organization and safety in the kitchen and dining areas
  • Work as part of a team to ensure timely and high-quality meal service
  • Model professionalism collaboration and hospitality in every interaction
  • Prepare all soups stocks sauces boils braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes
  • Prepare and serves all sauteed fried grilled steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence quality temperature and appearance of food is preserved
  • Determine amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and obtaining from storage areas in adequate time for meal production
  • Assist other cooks to ensure that meal service is completed in a timely manner
  • Efficiently resolving problems with resident orders
  • Complete all necessary logs and quality assurance checklists and ensure proper food storage with date and labels when not in use
