Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of cuisine and service our guests expect. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food items according to established recipes and quality standards. This position offers an hourly compensation of $19.80, reflecting the critical role this person plays in ensuring excellence in food preparation and presentation.

The Cook position serves as a foundational role within the kitchen hierarchy, providing opportunities for growth through a clearly defined career path that leads from Lead Cook to Sous Chef, Executive Chef, and ultimately to Food and Beverage Director. The role entails preparing a wide range of food items, including appetizers, salads, cold dishes, baked goods, and cooked meats and vegetables, all while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. This ensures not only the quality and taste of the dishes but also the health and safety of both staff and guests. Attention to detail is required in following recipes precisely, maintaining cleanliness in work areas, and properly storing food items.

Additionally, the Cook will contribute to the department’s efforts to improve guest satisfaction scores and adhere to sustainability practices aligned with our EarthView program. Safety in the workplace is a priority, and all team members are expected to practice safe work habits and utilize appropriate protective equipment.

Working in this role will involve a physically active environment requiring standing for extended periods, walking, lifting, pushing, bending, and other activities typical of professional kitchen work. The schedule is variable and may include holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Previous culinary experience or equivalent training required
  • Department of Health Sanitation certificate may be required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts
  • Commitment to safe food handling and workplace safety

Job Duties

  • Follow recipes to prepare food items accordingly
  • Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables
  • Cut, trim, or clean meat
  • Prepare appetizers, salads, or cold dishes
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Bake breads, rolls, or other baked goods
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food for pick up by server or deliver to guests
  • Maintain clean and sanitized work areas such as cutting boards, counters and work spaces
  • Secure and store food items properly
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
  • Follow safe food handling procedures
  • Follow guidelines related to sustainability practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits and wear protective safety equipment
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
