Job Description

Handmaker is a well-established local non-profit organization dedicated to providing loving and quality care for seniors in the Tucson area. With over 60 successful years in operation, Handmaker has built a reputation as a great place to live and work, particularly in an industry often associated with high employee turnover. Unlike many other organizations, Handmaker boasts a dedicated and professional staff, with more than one-third of employees staying with the organization for five or more years. This stability reflects the positive work environment, strong team culture, and the meaningful impact employees have in the lives of residents. The organization prioritizes its staff by offering comprehensive benefits and recognizing the essential role each employee plays in the community it serves. Handmaker is committed to being an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and ensures inclusivity for all staff members.

Currently, Handmaker is looking for a dynamic, compassionate, and hard-working Cook with at least 1 to 3 years of experience to join their dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a healthcare facility or banquet setting, capable of managing various kitchen stations including soups and sauces, and skilled in following recipes for a three-meal dining operation. This role requires the ability to work flexible hours and days, contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen and ultimately the well-being of the residents. Handmaker understands the importance of its cooks and values their contribution by providing same-day pay options through TapCheck, a competitive retirement plan with impressive matching benefits, and other comprehensive insurance options. The Cook will be a respected member of the team, working in a non-sectarian, supportive work environment that honors teamwork, professionalism, and a shared commitment to quality care. Candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, compassionate setting and are eager to make a daily difference in a senior living community are encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals seeking rewarding work in a respected and stable organization that genuinely cares about its employees and those they serve.
