Job Requirements
- Experience in food service
- Ability to read, write and understand directions
- Ability to lift, push or pull minimum of 50 pounds
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen within NC Environmental Health Standards
- Understand NC Rules and Regulations
- No substantiated findings on NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program
- Clear SBI and DMV records maintained during employment
- Wear slip resistant shoes while working in dietary
Job Qualifications

- Knowledge of North Carolina Rules and Regulations
- Ability to maintain cleanliness per health standards
- Understanding of food safety temperature requirements
- Familiarity with confidentiality and resident rights
- Physical ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Record free on NC Personnel Registry and Health Care Program
- Clear SBI and DMV records maintained during employment
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff and residents
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Job Duties
- Prepare required menus at least one week in advance with specified portions and snacks ensuring food availability
- Plan therapeutic menus per physicians' orders and in consultation with a registered dietitian
- Record any menu substitutions on menu calendar before food is served
- Post menus in kitchen for guidance of food service staff and make available to residents
- Maintain an up-to-date preference list of foods for each resident
- Prepare and serve three meals daily with at least 10 hours between breakfast and dinner
- Ensure hot foods are served hot above 140 degrees Fahrenheit and cold foods are served cold below 45 degrees Fahrenheit
- Prepare nutritional bag lunches for residents attending day programs with consideration for food safety
- Prepare and serve appropriate menu snacks daily
- Take inventory and purchase all food and supplies within budget and policy guidelines
- Check food deliveries for accuracy and keep invoices for review
- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen within health standards
- Work cooperatively with staff and relate favorably to residents and families
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements and safety protocols
- Assist residents in exercising their rights and maintain facility equipment and supplies properly
- Participate in continuing education and perform other related duties as assigned
