The Food & Beverage department at Brookshire Grocery Arena is committed to delivering high-quality culinary experiences that complement the exciting events held at the facility. The department operates a comprehensive kitchen that services multiple concession stands, banquet events, and food service operations within the arena. This department is crucial for ensuring that patrons enjoy delicious meals, snacks, and refreshments during their visit.

Brookshire Grocery Arena is currently seeking experienced Kitchen Cooks to join its Food & Beverage team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for cooking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The position reports directly to the Executive Chef and involves working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support the arena's heavy event calendar.

As a Cook at Brookshire Grocery Arena, your primary responsibility will be to prepare a variety of food items in the main kitchen areas, ensuring that all dishes meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. You will play an essential role in executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) accurately and efficiently, contributing to the success of catered events and large-scale gatherings. Collaboration is key, as you will coordinate with concessions workers, cashiers, and runners to maintain adequate inventory levels and ensure seamless service during events.

Additionally, maintaining cleanliness and operational readiness of kitchen equipment will be a critical part of your duties. You will assist with routine and annual maintenance, uphold safety standards, and help create visually appealing buffet presentations that enhance the guest dining experience. This role requires creativity, organization, and a commitment to maintaining sanitary working conditions.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • high school diploma or GED
  • minimum 1-year kitchen or restaurant cooking experience
  • pass background check
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • ability to lift up to 30 lbs to waist level
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • must be able to maintain safe and sanitary working conditions
