Job Requirements

  • Prior experience as a cook is helpful but not required
  • Completion of high school or equivalent education is helpful but not required
  • Completion of culinary training is very helpful but not required
  • Knowledge of cooking procedures and methods is helpful
  • Able to follow all sanitation procedures and policies
  • Good physical condition and stamina
  • Able to relate well to hotel guests and co-workers
  • Able to work well as part of a team
  • Able to learn quickly
  • Must be neat, professional and well-groomed
  • Must possess good organization and time management skills
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed

Job Duties

  • Prepare dishes that delight guests with taste, presentation and timely delivery
  • Follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals
  • Use various ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Move around the kitchen and multi-task efficiently
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking such as chopping vegetables and cutting meat
  • Cook food using various utensils and grillers
  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor inventory and place orders as needed
