Job Description
Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) is a fast-growing, family-owned company operating over 60 senior living communities nationwide. They focus on creating supportive, resort-style environments that enhance the lives of seniors while providing meaningful employment opportunities. With a strong foundation built on core values such as respect, honesty, kindness, compassion, and service excellence, RLC aims to foster a close-knit, servant-hearted community where both employees and residents thrive. Their mission revolves around four essential goals: happy employees, happy residents, full occupancy, and on-budget operations, creating a balanced and successful business model centered on care and community. RLC stands out by offering a purpose-driven workplace where staff members feel valued and are encouraged to make a positive difference every day.
The Cook position at Resort Lifestyle Communities is a critical role responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences to residents. Working in a scratch-based kitchen, the cook prepares a diverse array of entrées and side dishes, ensuring that every plate is not only high quality but also visually appealing and portioned according to the preferences of the residents. This role demands a strong commitment to food safety and sanitation, meticulous attention to detail, and efficiency in kitchen preparation and cooking methods such as broiling, grilling, frying, and sautéing. Beyond food preparation, the cook aids in maintaining a welcoming dining atmosphere by building positive relationships with residents, guests, and team members, contributing to a warm and home-like environment.
The position requires the ability to work a consistent schedule primarily from Thursday to Monday, covering shifts from before lunch until dinner service ends at 6:30 pm, with occasional morning shifts as needed. Candidates must be at least 18 years or older and have the capacity to read, speak, and understand basic English. Experience in kitchen preparation and cooking is preferred but not mandatory. A vital requirement is the ability to acquire the necessary food handler permits within two weeks of commencing employment, adhering strictly to local health and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities include preparing high-quality dishes by utilizing various cooking methods to produce appealing and flavorful meals. The cook engages in continuous improvement by contributing ideas during team meetings, accepting feedback openly, and ensuring attentive coverage of the service line during meal hours. The role also involves completing all assigned opening and closing tasks such as morning setups and end-of-day cleanups, supporting team members, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, and keeping cooking stations well-stocked by managing food supplies and monitoring refrigeration. Sanitation is a top priority, requiring thorough cleaning of work areas and equipment as well as regular checking and recording of food safety parameters.
Resort Lifestyle Communities offers competitive compensation along with a generous benefits package for full-time employees. Benefits include a $341 benefit stipend per pay period usable toward health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), limited spending accounts (LSA), accident and hospital indemnity insurance, and legal and identity theft protection. In addition, employees enjoy paid time off and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. RLC's supportive leadership and beautiful workplace settings make it an attractive employer, fostering personal growth and a meaningful career in senior living hospitality.
