The Cook position at Sodexo, located at the Irvine Company - ICAC in Newport Beach, is a part-time role that offers an hourly pay range of $21.50 to $23.00. This role involves working varying shifts on weekends, with specifics provided during the interview process. As a Cook I, you will play an essential role in the food preparation and service process, responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items in alignment with Sodexo’s culinary standards. Your work will directly contribute to the quality, presentation, and consistency of meals served during all meal periods and special events.

The role demands working in a fast-paced kitchen environment where safety, cleanliness, and organization are critical. You will ensure that all food products are handled safely and prepared according to federal, state, and corporate standards and regulations. The Cook I must maintain a clean workstation and participate in teamwork to deliver an exceptional dining experience. Duties may vary depending on specific business needs and client requirements, making flexibility and adaptability important aspects of this role.

In addition to culinary responsibilities, the position requires physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, bend, stoop, reach, and lift varying weights up to 50 pounds occasionally. The position also demands punctuality and reliability to attend scheduled shifts consistently. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and between zero to two years of related experience. Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment, food-handling procedures, and the ability to follow recipes and instructions independently are preferred.

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
