Rooted in a tradition spanning over 100 years, Providence operates more than 50 hospitals, over 1,000 clinics, and numerous health and social service programs. The organization is widely recognized for delivering exceptional medical services in areas like cancer treatment, cardiology, neurosciences, orthopedics, women's services, emergency and trauma care, pediatrics, and neonatal intensive care. Embracing diversity and inclusion, Providence fosters a workplace culture that esteems every employee's voice, ensures equal opportunity, and is committed to eliminating discrimination based on race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected class. With over 120,000 caregivers, Providence supports its workforce with comprehensive benefits, professional development opportunities, and a welcoming work environment dedicated to patient-focused care.
This role is based at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, California, a key part of the Providence network known for its award-winning healthcare programs and community service. The position is a per-diem food preparation and service role within the Nutrition Services Department. This role is vital in preparing and serving quality food to patients, employees, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will prepare food in appropriate quantities promptly using established recipes and menus, ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are met. This position requires working under general supervision and maintaining an organized, hygienic workspace to comply with healthcare standards.
The pay range for this role is between $24.00 and $31.52 per hour, with the possibility of additional pay such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Providence offers a comprehensive benefits package including a retirement 401(k) savings plan with employer matching, health benefits covering medical, dental, and vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off including parental leave, vacations, holidays, and health-related leave, as well as various voluntary benefits and well-being resources to support employees’ personal and professional lives.
Overall, this role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for food service and healthcare to join a mission-driven organization committed to serving the most vulnerable in the community while enjoying a supportive and rewarding work environment. Candidates will benefit from Providence’s commitment to training, inclusive culture, and career growth opportunities. The position requires at least two years of cooking or catering experience, possession of a National Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire, and preferred vocational training in food production or experience in hospital food production.
