Job Description

Willow Lakes Golf Course at Offutt Air Force Base is a premier recreational facility dedicated to providing top-notch leisure and culinary experiences to military personnel, their families, and authorized community members. As part of the Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities, this golf course not only offers a relaxing environment for sports enthusiasts but also prides itself on delivering quality food services that enhance the overall guest experience. The golf course operates under the broader mission of supporting the wellness and morale of the Air Force and Space Force communities, making it an integral part of the base's social and recreational infrastructure. Employees here are presented with the unique opportunity to contribute directly to the quality of life of service members through exceptional service and culinary craftsmanship.

The role of a Cook at Willow Lakes Golf Course is a vital position within the food service team, requiring dedication, culinary skills, and a commitment to food safety and quality. This position is designated as Non-appropriated Fund (NAF), which means that it is funded through revenue-generating activities rather than federal appropriations, typically offering competitive wages and benefits geared towards enhancing employee satisfaction and retention. As a cook, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of cooking duties that involve preparing simple to moderately complex menu items with an emphasis on efficiency and consistency. Your tasks will include preparing breakfast staples such as pancakes, sausages, and eggs, cooking hot cereals and broiled meats, and handling the preparation of soups, sauces, gravies, and cold sandwich fillings. The role also includes preparing convenience foods like frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets, and some cooks may be tasked with baking pizzas.

In addition to cooking, you will engage in numerous food preparation techniques such as peeling, chopping, grinding, slicing, dicing, and breading. Attention to detail is critical as you will be responsible for assembling ingredients, replenishing salad bars, portioning food for meal service, and properly storing leftovers following established safety standards. Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and ensuring that all equipment is washed and sanitized is an integral part of your responsibilities. Following written recipes accurately to produce quality dishes that minimize waste and preparation time is essential. This position demands the capacity to work under supervision while adhering strictly to safety protocols and food handling regulations.

The Cook role at Willow Lakes Golf Course is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to contribute to a dynamic work environment within a military setting. Successful candidates will benefit from a structured employment setting with clear guidelines, opportunities for skill enhancement, and the satisfaction of supporting the morale and welfare of military personnel. Additionally, this role requires physical stamina, as it involves standing for extended periods, lifting items up to 40 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks that demand manual dexterity and endurance. If you are committed to food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction, this position offers a meaningful and rewarding career path within the Department of Defense’s morale, welfare, and recreation programs.
