Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must have at least three years cooking experience in a similar setting
  • flexible to work Monday through Saturday shifts, including weekends
  • able to perform physical tasks related to kitchen work
  • must communicate effectively in English
  • drug-free workplace adherence
  • ability to work varied shifts including early mornings, afternoons and evenings

Job Qualifications

  • SERVSafe certification preferred
  • experience in hospital or senior living preferred
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions
  • a minimum of three years experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution
  • ability to plan and organize work
  • ability to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • some knowledge of nutrition and diet
  • ability to effectively communicate, read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English

Job Duties

  • Ability to work all stations in the kitchen
  • efficiently runs assigned station during the shift
  • follow all specs
  • stock food as needed
  • maintains the quality of food and plate presentation
  • prepares all soups, stocks, sauces
  • boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes
  • prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes
  • prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders
  • plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to preserve excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food
  • determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and ensures supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production
