This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and healthcare food service. The position of Cook at Bon Secours St Francis Medical Center is full-time and part-time, with an hourly wage of $16.50. The shift for this role is from 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., accommodating those who prefer day to evening working hours. As a cook, you will work under the guidance of the chef or production manager, preparing meals that meet high standards of quality and nutrition for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. The role involves following company recipes and adhering to strict sanitation and safety policies to ensure a safe and healthy food environment.
In this role, you will be a key player in maintaining the efficient operation of the culinary department. Responsibilities include preparing food in accordance with hospital dietary guidelines, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area, and supporting your team and management with efficiency and cooperation. The position requires strong teamwork skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to following all health and safety procedures. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen
- must be at least 18 years old
- communicate effectively in English
- work well in a team environment
- practice good personal hygiene
- be neatly groomed
- be in uniform
- able to stand and walk continuously for prolonged periods
- able to push dish racks
- able to stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- able to operate kitchen equipment necessary for the job
- pass a background check
- pass a drug screen
- provide proof of employment eligibility in the U.S.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen (fast food, hotel operations, healthcare)
- must be at least 18 years old
- communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
- must practice good personal hygiene, be neatly groomed, and be in uniform
- preferred culinary experience (cook, cooking, line cook, commercial kitchen, fast food, dietary cook, healthcare foodservice)
Job Duties
- Prepare high-quality meals for patients, visitors, and hospital staff
- follow company recipes and guidelines to prepare all food items
- maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all cleaning, sanitation, and closing procedures
- adhere to the facility's health and safety policies and procedures
- assist team members and management as needed to help the department operate efficiently
