Job Description

Our establishment is a professional culinary kitchen specializing in preparing a diverse range of foods that cater to customers seeking high-quality meals. We are currently looking to hire an experienced Cook who is proficient in prepping and cooking various types of foods such as soups, grilled and roasted meats and vegetables, cold salads, dips, and dressings. This role requires expertise in working with large batches and professional culinary equipment, along with the ability to follow recipes accurately while making sound judgments and adjustments when necessary. The Cook will be responsible for preparing dishes according to recipe specifications and kitchen management instructions, collaborating with shift leaders to optimize production efficiency, and ensuring food safety protocols are strictly followed. The position demands an individual capable of working both independently with focus and collaboratively within a team environment.

The Cook's responsibilities include prepping and cooking dishes per recipe specs, managing food packaging and storage using FIFO principles, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the workspace, and contributing to kitchen cleanliness including dishwashing duties. This role requires clear communication with other kitchen staff including shift leaders and kitchen managers and professionally responding to any customer service questions related to food products. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience, preferably with sushi preparation, strong organizational skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and must hold a Serve Safe food handler certification at the time of hiring. Flexibility to work morning, evening, and weekend shifts is also necessary.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Relevant experience with making sushi rolls, professional settings preferred but not required
  • willing to work am, pm and weekend shifts if needed
  • organized, clean and efficient work habits
  • ability to follow the instructions of Sushi Production Lead to achieve a consistent, uniform product
  • ability to work independently in a busy kitchen setting
  • ability to collaborate with others in a team environment
  • Servesafe food handler certification upon hiring

Job Duties

  • Prep and prepare dishes per the specs of the recipe and the Kitchen Manager
  • collaborate with Shift Leader to create a plan for maximizing efficiency in production
  • group recipes and labor to achieve the most productive and efficient output
  • seek support and advice from the Shift Leader where needed
  • maintain a clean and organized workspace to maximize efficiency and to meet all standards of the Serve Safe and the Delaware Food Code
  • cool and store all foods as per the food safety guidelines of Serve Safe and the Delaware Food Code
  • accurately pass off information regarding production to the oncoming shift and follow through on information and directives passed off to you
  • work collaboratively where needed
  • work independently in a focused manner to achieve production goals
