Job Requirements

  • None for education
  • One year of cooking experience for Cook 1
  • Three years of cooking experience for Cook 2
  • Must obtain Food Workers Card within 30 days
  • Serve Safe certification within 30 days
  • Certified Food Protection Manager certification within six months for Cook 2
  • Negative drug screen prior to employment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of experience as a cook for Cook 1
  • Three years of experience as a cook for Cook 2
  • Previous institutional cooking experience preferred
  • Must obtain State of Alaska Food Workers Card within 30 days
  • Serve Safe certification required within 30 days for Cook 1
  • Certified Food Protection Manager certification required within six months for Cook 2

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold meals for patients on therapeutic diets
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are maintained
  • Support the efficiency and quality of dietary services
  • Coordinate daily kitchen operations for Cook 2
  • Lead and support dietary staff in food preparation and sanitation
  • Assist department supervisors in implementing safety standards
  • Participate in catered events and cafeteria meal services
