Job Description

Our client is a well-established company in the food service industry, operating a bustling restaurant environment where quality and customer satisfaction are top priorities. Known for their commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and exceptional service, they provide a dynamic work atmosphere that values employee growth, teamwork, and operational excellence. The restaurant serves a diverse clientele and prides itself on delivering consistently tasty and well-prepared menu items using fresh ingredients and efficient cooking techniques. Employees are supported with thorough training and clear operational guidelines to ensure every aspect of the dining experience meets or exceeds customer expectations.

The role of Cook is integral to the smooth operation of the restaurant's kitchen. This position requires hands-on involvement in the cooking, preparation, and packaging of menu items in compliance with established quality and operational standards. The Cook will work closely with the Manager on Duty (MOD) and other kitchen staff to operate various food prep stations including grill, dresser, and food prep areas. The role demands a high level of attention to cleanliness and sanitation, with responsibilities extending beyond food preparation to include regular cleaning of the kitchen environment, equipment, and tools. The Cook must be capable of handling physical tasks such as lifting food products weighing up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and maintaining composure in a fast-paced, sometimes physically demanding work setting.

This position is classified as nonexempt, requiring readiness to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate will have basic math and reading skills, effective verbal and written communication abilities, and the flexibility to multitask efficiently in a busy kitchen environment. General restaurant or retail experience, while beneficial, is complemented by the ability to follow instructions and comply with company policies and procedures. Reliability and regular attendance are essential since the role is critical to daily operations and customer satisfaction.

Additional duties include reporting any customer or employee concerns to the MOD, stocking food products, and assisting with tasks as needed to support the efficient functioning of the kitchen. The position offers a practical blend of culinary skill development and operational rigor, providing a solid foundation for individuals looking to build a career in the food service industry or enhance their existing expertise in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
