We are currently hiring full-time Cook positions at Florida Coast Medical located at 310 South East Veranda Falls Way, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34984. As a Cook at Morrison Healthcare, you will be integral to preparing food in strict accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring customers receive quality service at all times. You will prepare high-quality food items using standardized recipes to meet production, delivery, and service schedules while ensuring that meals are appealing, properly portioned, and served at appropriate temperatures. You will uphold strict cleanliness standards in the kitchen, properly store or discard excess food according to safe food handling protocols, and maintain kitchen equipment.

Your responsibilities involve coordinating with team members to assist in production planning, ordering supplies, record keeping, and reporting, as well as promptly addressing maintenance issues or equipment faults. Maintaining safety is crucial; you will attend safety meetings and follow company policies including safe knife handling, use of protective gloves, slip-resistant footwear, and proper lifting techniques. You will maintain positive relationships with coworkers, administrators, and managers to foster a cooperative work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
  • Ability to work in fast-paced kitchen environments
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work varied shifts including days, 1st and 3rd shifts
  • Must adhere to company safety and hygiene policies including use of protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and is responsible for records from area worked during service periods
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat while ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures
