The current job opportunity is for a Food Preparation Worker within this long-term care center. This is a vital role that involves preparing and portioning food items according to the highest quality standards, ensuring all meals are prepared following planned menus, and maintaining food safety and sanitation practices. The position requires attention to detail in receiving, storing, rotating, wrapping, labeling, and dating food supplies to minimize waste and uphold food quality. Beyond food preparation tasks, the role includes important responsibilities such as cleaning cooking and food preparation equipment, performing sanitation duties in dining and kitchen areas, and maintaining confidentiality regarding resident information.
A key dimension of this role is leadership and teamwork. The food preparation worker will be expected to orient, motivate, supervise, and evaluate kitchen staff to achieve a cohesive and effective kitchen team. The role contributes significantly to the smooth functioning of the food service department and requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and adherence to safety and infection control policies. Job Duties
- Prepares and portions various food items with the highest of quality
- Wraps, labels and dates prepared food items for storage
- Receives, stores and rotates supplies as delivered
- Prepares meals in accordance with planned menus
- Checks food storage areas on a daily basis to ensure proper food rotation
- Uses and cleans cooking and food preparation equipment
- Orients, motivates, supervises and evaluates employees of production and kitchen component according to established standards and procedures
- Performs general and assigned sanitation duties in the kitchen and dining areas
- Maintains rapport with other departments to assure food service meets resident needs
- Maintains confidentiality of resident information
- Reports exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious material, and hazardous chemicals
- Prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures
- Demonstrates courteous and responsible attitude towards staff, resident and visitors
- Works effectively with other staff members to maintain cohesive work environment
- Demonstrates ability to work with little supervision
- Performs responsibilities in accordance with safety and infection control policies
- Conducts all responsibilities in alignment with organization's mission, vision, and core values
