Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of food service or cooking experience
  • Valid Food Handlers Permit from approved issuer
  • Ability to safely perform assigned job duties
  • Proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
  • Knowledge of Serve Safe guidelines and health department standards
  • Capability to comply with federal and state food safety regulations
  • Ability to work cooperatively with patients, family, and staff

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year food service or cooking experience
  • Food Handlers Permit accredited by TXDSHS or ANSI
  • Proficiency in safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Knowledge of kitchen food service equipment
  • Basic understanding of buffet, plated menu, and volume cooking

Job Duties

  • Ensure high quality food production following recipes and safety standards
  • Season, prepare, and cook various meats, vegetables, soups, and sauces
  • Assemble and garnish food items for patient, staff, and visitor services
  • Monitor food storage, labeling, and expiration dates to maintain quality and safety
  • Communicate with senior cooks and management about menu changes and food hazards
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of workstations and kitchen equipment
  • Assist in other food and nutrition service areas as needed
