The role of Cook within this company involves a variety of responsibilities centered around food preparation, cooking, and packaging. The cook will operate several essential kitchen stations such as the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and other food prep areas as assigned. This means mastering multiple cooking techniques and equipment handling to maintain the restaurant's standards of quality and consistency. Adherence to company policies and operational standards is crucial for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, along with performing routine cleaning and sanitation tasks like trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and tools, wiping counters, sanitizing prep areas, cleaning equipment, and managing used grease disposal.
This position requires the ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting, as well as exposure to heat, hot liquid shortening, freezer temperatures, and occasionally extreme weather conditions. The cook must demonstrate effective communication skills to report any customer or employee concerns to the Manager on Duty promptly. In addition to these responsibilities, the ability to multi-task and follow directions closely is essential to succeed in this fast-paced environment.
This is a nonexempt position, and the immediate supervisor is the Manager on Duty (MOD). The organization expects regular attendance and reliability from the cook to ensure the smooth operation of daily services. The cook is also required to move and stock food products, some weighing up to 50 pounds, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness and safety awareness in the role. Job Duties
- Cook, prepare, and package food product pursuant to operational and quality standards
- Operate dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food prep stations as assigned
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitation duties including trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease pursuant to operational standards
- Regular attendance
- Report customer or employee complaints or issues to MOD
- Move and stock food product weighing up to 50 pounds
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required
