Job Description

This position is available with a restaurant company looking to hire a skilled Cook to prepare and package food products according to operational quality standards. The establishment operates within the food service industry, focusing on providing customers with freshly made meals prepared in compliance with hygiene and safety regulations. The Cook will be responsible for contributing to the overall culinary operations by ensuring meal preparation meets the company’s standards.

In this role, the Cook reports directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD) and holds a nonexempt status, implying eligibility for overtime pay according to labor laws. The Cook’s duties include cooking, preparing, and packaging food products while operating various food preparation stations such as the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and designated food prep areas. The role demands adherence to the company’s policies, procedures, and operational standards to maintain consistency and quality.

This is a hands-on position that involves regular cleaning and sanitation responsibilities, including trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, sanitizing food prep areas, cleaning equipment, and handling grease disposal. The Cook must maintain regular attendance and be willing to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support the dynamic operations of the restaurant.

Additional duties involve managing customer or employee complaints by reporting them to the MOD, moving and stocking food products weighing up to 50 pounds, and performing other job-related tasks as needed. The work environment includes continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting within a restaurant setting. There is frequent exposure to heat, hot liquid shortening, freezers, and occasionally extreme weather conditions based on the location.

The ideal candidate will possess basic math and reading skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to follow directions accurately, and proficiency in multitasking in a fast-paced environment. General restaurant or retail knowledge is preferred to enhance operational efficiency and ensure smooth workflow within the kitchen.
