Job Description

The position of Cook is a vital role within a fast-paced restaurant environment that focuses on the preparation, cooking, and packaging of food products in accordance with high operational and quality standards. This role reports directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD), who oversees daily operations and ensures that the food preparation processes align with company policies and customer expectations. In this role, the cook is responsible for operating various kitchen stations such as the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and other food preparation areas. These stations require familiarity with food products, cooking procedures, and sanitation protocols to maintain high standards of food safety and customer satisfaction. The cook must regularly perform a variety of cleaning and sanitation duties, including disposing of trash, mopping and sweeping floors, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food prep areas, cleaning kitchen equipment, and properly emptying grease traps. Attendance and punctuality are critical for maintaining the flow of operation throughout service hours.

The cook will also be expected to handle additional responsibilities as assigned by the MOD, such as reporting any customer or employee complaints or issues, moving and stocking food products weighing up to 50 pounds, and fulfilling other job-related duties that support the smooth function of the kitchen and restaurant operations. The position demands flexibility as the work schedule involves irregular hours encompassing days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The ideal candidate possesses a general knowledge of restaurant or retail operations, with fundamental math and reading skills that enable the accurate measurement of ingredients and understanding of work instructions. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to effectively follow instructions and cooperate within the kitchen team. The work environment is physically demanding, involving continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting. Job Duties

  • Cook, prepare, and package food product pursuant to operational and quality standards

  • Perform regular cleaning and sanitation duties including trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease pursuant to operational standards
  • Ensure regular attendance
  • Report customer or employee complaints or issues to MOD
  • Move and stock food product weighing up to 50 pounds
