Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout a 4 to 8 hour shift
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in confined work areas
  • Must be able to work inside and outside the restaurant
  • Must meet state, county, or municipal regulations pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling
  • Must have ability to tolerate extreme temperature changes in kitchen and freezer areas
  • Must be able to pass all required tests and training requirements for the position
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Must meet Denny's uniform and grooming standards and maintain them throughout the shift
  • Must possess excellent guest service skills
  • Must be dependable and able to learn basic tasks and follow instructions
  • Must possess reasonable ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must place a value on diversity and show respect for others

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant or food service setting preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and safe food handling practices
  • Basic math skills including measurements and units
  • Ability to follow recipes and menu specifications accurately
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook and present food to order following established company brand standards guidelines and recipe specifications
  • Follow correct prepping procedures, utilize prep charts
  • Properly store and rotate perishable stock
  • Maintain proper food temperatures according to brand standards and regulations
  • Prepare special orders as requested
  • Organize and maintain work areas, coolers, and storage areas
  • Clean and take proper care of kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles, and utensils
