Job Description

Red Lobster is a well-established family-owned restaurant chain with a rich history spanning over fifty years. What began as a single restaurant with a mission to connect people to delicious seafood and coastal experiences has grown into a network of over 500 locations across various communities. The company prides itself on being more than just a place to eat – it is a welcoming environment where guests enjoy their favorite meals and moments, and where employees become part of a supportive and dynamic team. This seafood restaurant offers a unique blend of tradition, community connection, and career growth opportunities.

The role of Cook at Red Lobster is a vital position within the kitchen team that ensures the preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes consistent with their famous recipes and standards. The Cook is responsible for setting up and stocking both prep and line stations, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, and ensuring all equipment and utensils are sanitized properly to support food safety. They meticulously check the quality and freshness of ingredients before preparation, season and cook food items according to recipe specifications and portion control systems, and inspect all food preparation and serving areas to adhere to safe food handling practices. Additionally, Cooks may be called upon to substitute for or assist other kitchen positions during busy periods, highlighting the need for flexibility and teamwork.

Red Lobster values its employees and offers numerous benefits to support their wellbeing and career progression. This includes competitive wages paid weekly, flexible scheduling options to accommodate various lifestyles, and a variety of medical, dental, and vision insurance plans starting at less than ten dollars per week. Employees also have access to life insurance, short-term disability coverage, and voluntary benefits, which provide an extra layer of financial security. A 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching is available after one year of service, promoting long-term financial planning. Additionally, the restaurant offers anniversary pay for eligible employees, discounted shift meals, and a 25 percent discount when dining as a guest. The company is committed to training and developing its staff, providing clear pathways for career advancement and personal growth within the organization.

The physical demands of the Cook role require candidates to be able to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 60 pounds safely, and remain standing for shifts that can range from 8 to 12 hours. Being a team player with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively is essential to succeed in this fast-paced kitchen environment. Culinary experience is preferred but not mandatory, enabling individuals with a passion for food and commitment to quality an opportunity to grow their skills.

Red Lobster is dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace that welcomes diversity and ensures equal employment opportunities for all employees and applicants, regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or veteran status. The company’s exciting future plans underscore the potential to thrive as part of the Red Lobster family. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to join a reputable restaurant with strong community ties, attractive benefits, and a clear commitment to employee development.
