Job Description
Cottage Grove Place is a respected senior care facility devoted to providing high-quality residential and health care services. They prioritize dignity, respect, and safety for all residents, embodying a philosophy that champions compassionate care and hospitality. Known for their welcoming environment and commitment to excellence, Cottage Grove Place fosters a community where staff members are valued team players who create positive experiences for residents every day. This particular job opportunity is within their food service division, specifically the role of a part-time Cook in Commons East. The employment type is part-time with shifts alternating between early morning and afternoon/evening hours, including weekends, which offers a balanced schedule to candidates who seek flexibility along with meaningful work engagement. The hourly wage ranges from $16.00 to $17.50, reflecting competitive compensation in alignment with the responsibilities and experience required.
The Commons East Cook position demands a skilled culinary professional to prepare a wide variety of food offerings, including meats, vegetables, soups, sauces, salads, and bakery items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Candidates will be expected to follow established policies and procedures under the supervision of the Dining Services Manager, employing standardized recipes to guarantee consistency and quality in every dish served. This role includes responsibilities like preparing pureed items, plating, and transporting hot food specifically for Assisted Living and Health Center residents, ensuring their dietary needs and restrictions are met as prescribed by physicians. Attention to food safety protocols such as HACCP guidelines and OBRA compliance are mandatory, emphasizing sanitary food handling and maintenance of a clean kitchen environment. The cook must collaborate closely with dietary staff and leadership, offering hospitality and responsiveness to residents and coworkers alike, all while performing under the pressure of strict meal schedules and production standards.
Successful candidates will embrace the facility's hospitality promises that include greeting warmly, treating everyone with respect, anticipating needs, listening attentively, and maintaining professionalism in conduct and appearance. The position involves various duties beyond food preparation, such as monitoring and mentoring staff, participating in pre-service meetings, handling safety hazards promptly, completing performance-related tasks, and adhering to the employee handbook’s code of conduct with zero tolerance for workplace violence or harassment. Cottage Grove Place seeks professionals who are reliable and punctual, capable of working as collaborative team members, exhibiting flexibility in scheduling, and dedicated to preserving resident confidentiality at all times. Ongoing training and certification maintenance are essential components of employment, supporting career growth and compliance with regulatory standards. This role offers a meaningful opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about senior care and engagement, looking to make a positive impact within a supportive community setting.
