The Cook position at Western Village plays a critical role in the daily operations of its restaurant outlets. The role revolves around the preparation and production of food items according to strict quality and consistency standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the Restaurant Chef and Master Cooks to ensure all food items meet or exceed established quality benchmarks. This collaborative work environment encourages open communication and teamwork, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and culinary creativity. The Cook is also responsible for maintaining proper par stocks, managing inventory control efficiently, and ensuring the quality of purchased goods. Safety in the kitchen environment is paramount, and the Cook is expected to promptly report any damaged equipment or unsafe conditions to management. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years experience in a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting
  • Knowledge of multiple cuisine techniques including wok and Continental
  • Strong understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to follow detailed food preparation procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to professionalism and quality

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. or culinary apprenticeship or culinary school graduate preferred
  • Two or more years experience in hotel restaurant, casino outlet or individual restaurant in high-volume specialized areas
  • Familiarity with various cuisine aspects such as wok cookery and Continental cuisine
  • Strong culinary background emphasizing high volume, quality cuisine and sanitation skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare high quality and consistent food products
  • Emphasize day to day communication skills and commitment to excellent cuisine
  • Work closely with Restaurant Chef and Master Cooks on outlet operations including par stocks, inventory control, and quality of purchased goods
  • Maintain highest levels of professionalism including dress code
  • Report damaged or broken equipment to management promptly
  • Report unsafe conditions to management
  • Assist in implementing creative menus
  • Follow all sanitation procedures
