Job Description
Glen Oaks Country Club, established in 1991, is a premier gated community and award-winning country club located in West Des Moines, Iowa. Renowned for its exceptional amenities, the club was previously recognized as the number one golf course in Iowa by Golf Digest. The expansive 532-acre property includes a beautiful clubhouse, a Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole golf course, a resort-style aquatics park, a patio bar and ice cream shoppe, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with personal trainers on site. This close-knit community prides itself on providing its members with a high-quality lifestyle steeped in tradition and unmatched facilities, creating an inviting environment for friends and families to come together and enjoy an active, social, and luxurious living experience.
Currently, Glen Oaks Country Club is seeking both part-time and full-time Line and Banquet Cooks to join its esteemed culinary team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-volume environment that includes a la carte dining, upscale wedding and banquet production, and multi-course wine dinners. Team members will gain valuable experience by working alongside seasoned culinary professionals, enhancing their skills in a restaurant-quality setting while contributing to the club’s reputation for exceptional food and service.
The cooking positions at Glen Oaks are tailored for individuals passionate about culinary arts, offering the chance to exercise creativity by helping develop upscale dinner features alongside the Executive Chef and the culinary team. Employees enjoy competitive wages, two family meals daily, and the chance to advance their careers within the Club. Full-time employees receive an attractive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, vacation, life insurance, free golf privileges, and participation in a 401K retirement program. The club is committed to fostering professional growth and ensuring a supportive workplace where dedication and talent are recognized and rewarded.
This role demands physical stamina, requiring cooks to stand for long periods, handle knives safely, and regularly lift or move items weighing at least 50 pounds. The club also emphasizes inclusivity and is willing to provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to ensure they can successfully perform essential job functions. Working at Glen Oaks Country Club offers not only an environment of professional development but also the chance to be part of a cherished community known for its excellence both on and off the golf course.
