The position offered is a full-time Cook role that operates Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holiday shifts. This opportunity presents a competitive compensation starting at $18.00 per hour, reflecting experience levels. The Cook plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional and dietary needs of patients and staff alike, ensuring that every meal contributes to the overall patient care experience which aligns with Mary Free Bed’s core values and mission.
In this role, the Cook will prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and local health regulations while strictly following production schedules from the chef. Responsibilities will include preparing specific items based on production sheets, maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene, safely operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, and accurately documenting production and waste. This role demands exceptional customer service skills as the Cook takes orders and serves customers at multiple stations with efficiency and friendliness. The candidate will contribute directly to quality improvement efforts by identifying potential issues and participating in initiatives promoting patient and family satisfaction.

- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Communication and customer service skills
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Ability to use standard measures
- 1-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Food handler's permit by applicable state and county preferred
- ServSafe training and certificate as required by applicable state and county preferred

Job Duties
- Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the chef
- Prepare items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes
- Complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
- Taste completed meals to ensure quality
- Operate and clean equipment according to department procedures
- Store, label, and date all food items according to policy and HACCP guidelines
- Complete all required documentation, reports, and logs
- Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation time
- Serve customers efficiently and friendly
- Complete orders from steam tables and grill and serve customers at multiple stations
- Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and portion control
- Resolve customer concerns
- Perform other assigned job duties
