The Cook position at Malibu Jack's Lafayette is a part-time role designed for friendly, upbeat individuals passionate about delivering high-quality food products efficiently and safely. Cooks take pride in preparing menu items accurately while collaborating closely with their team to maintain low ticket times and outstanding food standards. They play a key part in ensuring food quality does not waver, practicing strict food safety protocols, and upholding a clean and sanitary work environment. This fast-paced position requires individuals to thrive under pressure and adapt quickly to the demands of a busy kitchen. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, the Cook’s responsibilities are pivotal in creating an exceptional dining experience for guests. While kitchen experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, allowing aspiring cooks with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. Essential skills include optimal time management, a strong ownership mentality, and the ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation. Additionally, this role demands adherence to safety standards, including keeping the workspace free from hazards and immediately addressing any potential risks. Employees must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, twisting, and lifting items up to 50 pounds. Flexibility to work holidays and weekends is also a requirement. Job Requirements

  • Kitchen experience preferred but not required
  • Ability and willingness to eventually learn all stations on the line
  • Ability to operate POS system
  • Ability to read and interpret business, technical, and safety documents
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Ability to follow written, oral, and diagram instructions
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be physically active including walking, bending, and lifting
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends
  • Background check may be required
