Job Description

Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital is part of Intermountain Healthcare, a renowned not-for-profit health system based in Utah. Known for its patient-centered care and innovative approach, Intermountain Healthcare blends high-quality medical services with hospitality to create an exceptional healthcare environment. At Riverton Hospital, the focus extends beyond clinical care to encompass holistic wellness by emphasizing nutrition and patient comfort. The hospital employs professional chefs, culinary leaders, cooks, and nutrition care associates to deliver restaurant-quality food service, making the patient experience more comfortable and engaging.

This position as a food production worker at Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to making a difference in patients' lives through food as medicine. Rather than traditional hospital food, the hospital’s nutrition services provide healthcare-focused but culinary-rich meals in a hotel-like setting with a guest-centric culture. The role is PRN (as needed/on call), offering flexible scheduling with shifts available Monday through Sunday during various daytime hours. The pay rate ranges from $18.84 to $24.50 per hour, depending on experience.

The food production worker performs a variety of essential duties in the kitchen under general supervision. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking food according to recipes and instructions, maintaining proper sanitation and organization, and ensuring quality in large-scale food production. This role may also involve interacting with customers across different venues such as catering, retail outlets, or patient care settings. Additional duties might include delivering patient meals, cashier tasks, stocking, and operating ware-washing machines. The ideal candidate will be skilled in food handling, safety, and production, with the ability to collaborate with team members while working independently as needed.

The hospital environment provides a rewarding setting for culinary professionals who value both creativity and adherence to safe food practices. Candidates will engage in work that impacts patient well-being directly by preparing meals that cater to modified diets and special nutritional requirements. Intermountain’s dedicated approach to quality and hospitality creates a supportive workplace where team members can grow their culinary careers and contribute meaningfully to patient care. The position also demands physical stamina, with standing for long periods, lifting supplies, and working in varied temperature environments such as grills and refrigerators.

Intermountain Health is committed to the well-being of its employees, offering a comprehensive benefits package that fosters health, happiness, security, and engagement. This reflects the organization’s broader commitment to both patients and caregivers. The hospital promotes equality, inclusivity, and a positive, respectful workforce culture. Candidates with a food handler permit or ServSafe certification and experience as a cook or grill cook are encouraged to apply, especially those who thrive in a fast-paced, hospitality-oriented healthcare setting with high standards of food safety and customer service.
