Job Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Culinary Arts
  • 2-5 years experience in meal preparation for groups of 25-500 people
  • ServSafe certification
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • ability to lift and carry at least 40 lbs
  • availability to work approximately 28.5 hours per week, including potential weekends
  • commitment to maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety protocols
  • excellent customer service skills

  • ability to lift and carry minimum 40 lbs

Job Duties

  • prepare daily meals according to planned menus within state and federal guidelines
  • maintain, clean, and keep kitchen orderly in accordance with Department of Health regulations
  • work and meet regularly with program leaders regarding menu planning, food service, and personnel issues
  • foster a cooperative atmosphere in the kitchen working with staff, volunteers and guests assisting with preparation and cleanup
  • monitor purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to meet guidelines set for quality and pricing
  • attend staff meetings as requested
  • ensure all staff are properly and accurately trained in the safe use of all equipment
  • ensure all equipment is inspected weekly, ensure timely repair of all equipment, submit work orders and service calls as necessary
  • ensure an adequate reserve of program supply and report missing items immediately
  • report all injuries in a timely manner according to procedure
  • assist with recycling and trash removal
  • may be required to work weekends
  • perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned
