Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Prior professional cooking experience
- Current City of Norfolk food handling training certification at time of hire
- Ability to work varying shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of public health, safety, and food handling standards
- Ability to follow recipes accurately
- Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
- Serves meals and prepares for delivery using correct portioning and ensuring food is attractive and tasty
- Uses established ticket collection procedures during service
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness in freezers, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, and storerooms
- Stores food in designated areas following food safety and rotation procedures or discards excess food
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
- Ensures compliance with food safety and sanitation standards and policies
- Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
- Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
- Reports maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents
- Attends in-service and safety meetings
- Maintains good working relationships and safe work environment
- Performs all other duties as assigned
