Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in large scale cooking or dietary food preparation
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work flexible shifts including PM shifts
- Successful completion of background check
- Pre-employment physical
- Drug screening
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food items as needed
Job Qualifications
- Able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and general public
- Knowledgeable of food procedures
- Possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Maintain care and use of supplies and equipment
- Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation and safety
- Ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them into food practices
Job Duties
- Inspect special diet trays to assure correct diet is served to resident
- Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports and submit to Director of Food Services
- Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary
- Work with facility’s dietitian and implement recommended changes
- Ensure all food procedures are followed according to policies
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
