Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in large scale cooking or dietary food preparation
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Ability to work flexible shifts including PM shifts
Successful completion of background check
Pre-employment physical
Drug screening
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food items as needed

Job Qualifications

Able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
Able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and general public
Knowledgeable of food procedures
Possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Maintain care and use of supplies and equipment
Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation and safety
Ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them into food practices

Job Duties

Inspect special diet trays to assure correct diet is served to resident
Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports and submit to Director of Food Services
Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary
Work with facility’s dietitian and implement recommended changes
Ensure all food procedures are followed according to policies
Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
