Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in large scale cooking or dietary food preparation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including PM shifts
  • Successful completion of background check
  • Pre-employment physical
  • Drug screening
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food items as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and general public
  • Knowledgeable of food procedures
  • Possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Maintain care and use of supplies and equipment
  • Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation and safety
  • Ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them into food practices

Job Duties

  • Inspect special diet trays to assure correct diet is served to resident
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports and submit to Director of Food Services
  • Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary
  • Work with facility’s dietitian and implement recommended changes
  • Ensure all food procedures are followed according to policies
  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
  • Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
