Job Duties
- lead all facets of a serving kitchen with team members
- prepare meals and follow recipes
- clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry
- cook food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or portions
- observe and test foods being cooked by tasting and smelling
- compile and maintain records of food temperatures
- ensure food portions on trays are presentable and of the correct amount
- oversee those assisting with food preparation before, during and after meal service
- inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices
- manage food rotation and use of donated food items to eliminate food waste
- clean and inspect kitchen equipment and work areas ensuring cleanliness and operation
- clear and reset counters and tables at conclusion of shift
- clean and sanitize serving area, dining room, equipment, utensils, sweep and mop floors
- sort and remove trash and clean garbage cans
- ensure all Daily Free Meals workers follow Recycling Program procedures
- follow Daily Free Meals Program's Health and Safety rules
- work with Operations Manager or Culinary Manager to resolve personnel issues
