Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent in English language (spoken and written)
  • ServeSafe Manager or Food Handler Certification
  • A current California driver's license and proof of auto insurance
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience working with a female population preferred
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background screening (Live-Scan)
  • Maintain yearly CPR, First Aid Certification, and Tuberculosis test results
  • Not currently on probation or parole, discharged for at least three years
  • Maintain mandated training requirements for position

Job Duties

  • Assist with food preparation, cleanliness, and adherence to health codes and regulatory guidelines for a residential facility
  • Supervise the preparation of assigned meals for the on-site program participants
  • Ensure all meals are prepared in accordance with approved menus, that meals are served on time, and keep track of the number of meals served to residents
  • Test all food prior to serving and retain a sample of each meal for 48 hours to determine possible food contamination
  • Supervise participants assigned to work in the kitchen
  • Maintain high health standards including cleanliness, sanitation, and wearing hairnets and/or caps and gloves in food preparation and serving areas
  • Ensure that equipment is in good operating condition and that temperatures are within proper standards, be constantly aware of fire and safety hazards and report repair/maintenance needs to Facility Manager
