Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by state regulations
  • food handler's card where required
  • meets all mandatory health requirements by state regulations
  • ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime
  • maintains CPR and/or First Aid Certification as required by state regulations

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items and serves food to residents within scheduled timeframe
  • follows menu cycle, noting changes or substitutions made on proper form
  • cleans and maintains a neat, safe working environment including the kitchen and food service areas
  • maintains inventory control, places food order, verifies that items are received appropriately and restocks kitchen shelves appropriately
  • directs food service and dining service functions
  • maintains the quantity of food prepared and samples the food to ensure the quality of the food served to the residents
  • reports problems, concerns, issues observed with food service and communicates them appropriately
  • observes changes in resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates with appropriate team members
  • coordinates coverage of the kitchen and works with the Residence Director to develop a schedule that ensures adequate coverage
  • maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors
