The role being offered is for an experienced Cook who will be responsible for implementing menus and coordinating food preparation tasks under general direction. This is a key position that involves cooking and preparing food according to approved menus and overseeing workers who assist in food preparation and meal service. The Cook will ensure that all kitchen appliances, equipment, and work areas are cleaned and inspected regularly to maintain hygiene and functionality. Another critical responsibility is the management of inventory for supplies and equipment, which helps keep kitchen operations running smoothly and efficiently. The role requires close collaboration with Food Service leadership or Dietitians to guarantee that menus are diverse, nutritionally balanced, and appealing to the customers served. In addition to food production, the Cook will coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control activities, all while ensuring strict compliance with established policies, quality standards, cost parameters, and regulatory requirements. This role occasionally involves performing additional duties as assigned by management, reflecting the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the food service industry. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with additional education or training in culinary arts, and a minimum of two years of experience in a food service role within an institutional setting. A ServSafe Certification or an equivalent food safety certification is required if mandated by the applicable state or facility.
