The Cook position at Arrow Senior Living is a full-time role based in Springfield, MO, offering a starting wage of $16 per hour. The shift schedule runs from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. This role is more than just preparing meals—it’s about crafting culinary experiences that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of seniors in a warm and inviting setting. The Cook, referred to as a Culinary Craftsman within the community, has the important responsibility of preparing menu items according to established standards and recipes. Attention to detail is vital to ensure food quality, safety, and presentation are always maintained to the highest standards.

This role also encompasses critical health and safety responsibilities, such as maintaining sanitary food preparation areas and monitoring food temperatures to comply with health protocols. The successful candidate will cultivate meaningful connections with residents by familiarizing themselves with their taste preferences and dietary requirements, enhancing the overall dining experience. Additionally, team members in this role participate in resident orientations and collaborate closely with management and fellow staff to ensure an excellent standard of service.

The physical demands of the job include standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as working in environments with extreme temperatures like kitchens and walk-in freezers. The position requires a Food Handlers Card and adherence to all health and safety regulations. Job Requirements

  • Be at least eighteen years of age
  • able to read write understand and communicate in English
  • criminally cleared
  • able to stand walk bend kneel and stoop all day
  • able to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
  • comfortable in close contact with extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers

Job Qualifications

  • Possess a current Food Handlers Card as specified per the Department of Health
  • demonstrate skills knowledge and competency in leadership training and supervision
  • possess proficient written and oral communication skills with management professional and support staff
  • able to work primarily indoors and available to work outside for events
