The role of Cook 1 is vital to ensuring the preparation and serving of quality food in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local standards and regulations. The prep cook is responsible for obtaining daily production schedules and preparing food items following established recipes and quantities to ensure consistent quality. Attention to operational detail is crucial as this role involves completing production worksheets, waste logs, and adhering to HACCP guidelines to maintain food safety standards. The prep cook must taste and assess meals for quality control, properly store, label, and date all food items according to company policy, and maintain cleanliness by operating and cleaning equipment after each use.
Serving customers efficiently and courteously is an important aspect of this job, with tasks including taking customer orders, preparing items requiring short preparation times, and serving food at multiple stations such as steam tables and grills. The position requires keen adherence to portion control, approved recipes, and serving temperature standards to ensure customer satisfaction. Additional duties include handling customer concerns professionally and carrying out other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Knowledge of food safety standards and practices
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Good communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods

- Operate and clean equipment per department procedures after each use
- Store, label and date all food items according to policy
- Follow HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply
